Don’t miss: Holiday Snow Dance

December 16 is the annual snow dance for MacArthur Intermediate School. Twenty-five tons of snow will fill the quad.

Mark your calendars, students, because the Ugly Christmas Sweater Dance is coming up and you don’t want to miss it!  It’s on December 16, don’t forget!  Tickets will be sold for seven dollars, and the dance will be from 3:00-5:00 PM.

Most of the money will go to American Heritage Club, a club that learns historical about destinations, such as Washington D.C. and New York.  The club is advised by History Teacher Mr. Ray Gonzales, and culminates in a trip to both cities.  The rest of the money will go to Drama Club, ran by Drama Teacher Mrs. Holly Kotler.  This year, drama has become a class held during zero period.

At the dance, there will be carnival style games, food and for the seventh straight year, snow!  According to Gonzales, there will be two snow slides and one snow pit.

This year, there will be 25 tons of snow, the same amount as last year.  But that snow that students play in isn’t actually snow!  The “snow” is 25 tons of ice that is put through a wood chipper then sprayed across the floor to make the snow.  The 25 tons of the block ice come from a company called Glacier Ice.

This year’s theme is Ugly Christmas Sweater.  American Heritage Club will be having a contest to see who has the best ugliest sweater at the dance.  For students who wear an ugly Christmas sweater, they will get to go up to the very front of the line, and the sweater can also be used as a fast-pass for the snow slide.

Eighth-grader Jessenia Hernandez said, “Well I feel that the dance is going to be great, just like every other year.  I just hope that the ice isn’t all clumped together like rocks.”

“Hope you can make it out to the dance!” said Gonzales.
