This year’s best Valentine’s Day Candy

There are cards and flowers given out each Valentine’s Day, but it’s candy that really lets people know how much you care.

It is time again when love is in the air, and candy is all around. Valentine’s Day is a day to show how much you love your friends, spouse, or any other people you care about.  At Valentine’s Day, cards are everywhere and flowers, too. But what we’re concerned about is candy. We have made a list of the top 6 best candies to get that special someone.

1. Heart Shaped Boxes of Chocolate

According to MSN.com, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates were created by Richard Cadbury in 1861.  They are traditionally Valentine’s and to the point. It’s common that the chocolates come in many different flavors like caramel, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate.  Truthfully, it is hard to beat a heart-shaped box of chocolates because they are unmistakably a Valentine’s candy, the variety gives everyone a chance to get chocolate they like, and they are just deliciously fancy!

2. Ferrero Rocher

Ferrero Rocher is a ball of hazelnut covered milk chocolate crisp wafer.  While not as unmistakably Valentine’s as a heart-shaped box of chocolates, the Italian-made expensive candy is still a very delicious gesture.  Also, in case you didn’t know, the parent company Ferrero SpA is the second biggest chocolate producer in the world. They know what they’re doing.

3. Reese’s Heart Shaped

Reese’s Heart Shaped is a peanut butter-filled candy with a milk chocolate coating shaped like a heart because… well, it’s Valentine’s Day!   It places third since it is definitely a treat, but kind of basic. Christmas has Reese’s trees, and Easter has Reese’s eggs. Of course, Valentine’s has Reese’s hearts.  Even so, there’s a reason Reese’s is popular at every holiday.

4. Conversation Hearts

Conversation hearts are small, heart-shaped candies that say cute Valentine’s Day messages. They place fourth because it’s hard to imagine a Valentine’s Day without them.  Also, the sayings on the hearts are updated every few years, so there is always some novelty with the small, hard candies that can’t be found at any other time of the year.  As an added bonus, giving them in 2019 shows that special someone that you tried a little harder because there may be a shortage of hearts this year. The main producer, Necco, went out of business.  Brach’s made their version of the hearts for this year’s season, though.

5. Hershey Kisses

The Hershey’s kisses are your basic chocolate candies. They are simple yet delicious. They were created by Milton Hershey over 112 years ago. They placed fifth because they taste better than M&M’s.  Also, there’s a thematic bonus for giving someone a chocolate kiss on Valentine’s.

6. M&M Red and White candies

M&M red and white candies are round chocolate candies covered with a candy shell, seasonally exclusive to the limited red and white varieties.  They are at the bottom of the list because they also are your average candy with a new coat of paint. They are plain and bland in favor, but many people still like them.  Having been sold for almost 80 years, it’s hard to argue with longevity. However, Reese’s reshapes itself for the season. Heart-shaped boxes also give familiar candies a new shape.  M&M’s? What have you done for us?
