Fairy tales and children’s stories traditionally start with, “Once Upon a Time”. Once upon a time, there lived a widow and his son named Jack. Once upon a time, Rapunzel was taken away by a sorcerer. Once upon a time, Little Red Riding Hood was set off to go send food to her grandmother. You get the idea now, but have you ever wondered what actually happened after “Once Upon a Time”?

After months of practicing, the Drama Club performed the play What Happened after Once Upon a Time? in the P.A.R., Performing Arts Room, from March 24-25 for all staff members, parents, and students to enjoy.

“I think they did very well,” said Director Mrs. Holly Kotler.  “Everyone said positive things about the play. “

The scene took place in a brick room that was covered in graffiti. Within the middle of the room, there was a couch, and beside it was a table with different books laying on top. This created an enclosed environment where the storyteller tried telling stories about Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, The Princes and the Pea, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Cinderella, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, and  Hansel and Gretel.

While trying to tell each story, the characters from the stories interrupt the storyteller, mainly by complaining about what happened and why they regret everything, which prevented her from finishing the stories. Because of this, they have gone through four different storytellers. In the end, they all lived happily ever after.

“The audience clapped a lot after the play,” said eighth-grader Ethan V. “I thought that the play was good, but a change in the background would have been nice.”

In the past, Kotler has produced a wide selection of plays. Some plays she has produced in the past are Big Bad, Boarding House, Doc Doc Gose, and Apostrophe’s.
