A new club on campus, the PAWSitivity club, formed to promote kindness and limit bullying on campus. The club is open to anyone and meets in the P.A.R. at lunch on Mondays. The club looks to bring a supportive, kind tone to campus through events. The club is advised by Counselor Mrs. Laurie Tristan.
Tristan said, “I started this group because there’s so much yuckiness in our world some days, so I just wanted to find other students on campus that wanted to be kind to each other, spread positivity, and just focus on wellness efforts so that we can bring more kindness to MacArthur.”
The club was announced shortly before club rush in September and generated 15 members. The club has already helped to promote Fun Fridays, which are games available to all during lunch. They also coordinated Unity Day on October 22, in which students and staff were encouraged to wear orange. According to Laurie Tristan, it was very successful as most people wore orange.
Seventh-grader Milo P. said, “I feel honored to join PAWSitity club, and how it affected me really great, and honestly, it was a really good decision that I made.”
After Unity Day, future ideas will be determined by club members and whatever they want to come up with, according to Tristan. As of now, there are no further calendared events.
Earlier in the year, the PAWSitivity club helped with the family dinner night. Club members helped serve pasta, salad, drinks, and dessert. According to Tristan, it was a very successful evening for the PAWSitivity club as both parents and helpers had fun.
Seventh-grader Maya L. said, “I feel good because my friends are in it, and then my favorite part is the family dinner night because I got to serve people food.”
