Team of seventh graders wins the lunchtime three-point tournament

A team consisting of Frankie Gonzalez, Mario Jimenez, and Julian Diaz made 13 three-pointers to beat out the other six teams.

“I do this tournament so the kids could have fun,” said P.E. Teacher Mrs. Kathleen Carrigan, who coordinated the lunchtime three-point tournament.

Seventh-graders Frankie Gonzalez, Mario Jimenez, and Julian Diaz won the lunchtime three-point tournament.  The tournament took place on November 8 on the basketball courts at lunch.

Each team member had 45 seconds to make as many three-point shots as possible.  21 students joined the tournament, so there was seven teams.

Team seven, the winning team, made thirteen shots all together, but Julian had the most with six.  The winners got an In-n-out certificate and a basketball award.

Carrigan said Julian was the one to make most of the shots out of all contestants.  She believes that students enjoy the tournament, so put it together for any student to participate.

Frankie said, “I joined the tournament so I have something fun do with my friends.” Frankie felt that he did good, but he knew he could of done better. He would do the tournament again because it motivates him to win again.

Julian said, “I joined the tournament because I like shooting threes.”

Carrigan only needed one day for the tournament because it was all the time necessary.
