Student store burglary discovered over Thanksgiving Break

Suspects took chips and candy after breaking the student store window.

Over Thanksgiving break, MacArthur Fundamental School’s student store was broken into.  MacArthur custodians were the first to discover the theft when a window was broken.

Due to this event, Principal Mr. David Casper plans to work with the district to install a higher security system around the campus.   Unfortunately, we didn’t have a security system when the break in occurred.

Casper, hopes the students will stand up to protect the school in result of this event.  The cost of the broken window varies from $300-$400.  Chips and candies had been stolen. Luckily, the money the student store earns is taken out and put into a safe everyday.

District Police Officer Singer said, “Consequences for this results in the person being arrested for burglary and vandalism. Also, they would go to juvenile hall due to their age.”

Math Teacher Ms. Sherry-Skipper Spurgeon said, “The student store is a privilege and when incidents happen like this, the student store can be taken away. We are the few of many schools that have a student store.”

The Parent Faculty Organization, who runs the student store, decided it was best if students knew in case they had an idea of who the culprit was.

As of now, no arrests have been made.
