RBI Baseball begins its season

The baseball and softball program have begun in the after-school program.

For the fourth straight year, MacArthur is fielding an RBI baseball team to compete against other schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District.  The first game was a 17-2 victory against Sierra Preparatory Academy on March 2.

“I think that the team is going to win the championship.  The reason why I joined the baseball team is that I enjoy baseball and started playing when I was three years old,” said seventh-grader Sebastian Orozco.

To fill a team, there have to be 22 players.  According to Coach Mr. George, he thinks the team will win the championship.  He is going to teach students how to develop their skills through daily drills at practice.  George has had experience with baseball and played when he was growing up.

Every Friday, the baseball team and the softball team scrimmage to add a little fun to the practices and “to see who is better,” said George.   George wants to present them with game-type situations and to prepare them for high school.

“I also think the team is going to win the championship because we have good teammates, and we practice hard for what we do.  I joined the baseball team because I enjoy the sport, and I started playing when I was 12 years old,” said seventh-grader Anthony Acosta,

Ivan Rubalcava, seventh grade, said  “The reason why I joined is that my friends encouraged me to try out, and I successfully made the team.  It turns out that I am good at the sport and I am planning to join to team next year.”
